Collections

The Kama, or Collected teachings of the Nyingma - esp. Mahayoga, Anuyoga, and Atiyoga - which have been transmitted in an unbroken line since their composition. These 58 volumes are an expansion upon an earlier edition compiled by Dzogchen Gyalse Zhenphan Taye (b. 1800) and were issued with the editorial approval of the late Dudjom Rinpoche Jigdral Yeshe Dorje. Two much larger collections brought together by Kenpo Munsel (1916-1993) and his disciples have recently been published in Sichuan Province in 110 and 120 volumes. These are under scanning and will supplement this 58 volume collection. (58 vol)

An edition of the Kama recently compiled at Katok Monastery by students of Kenpo Munsel and Kenpo Jamyang. At twice the size of the Dudjom edition, it contains many rare Nyingma treatises on Mahayoga, Anuyoga, and Atiyoga that heretofore had never been seen outside of Tibet. (120 vol)


A reproduction of the stod-lung mtshur-phu redaction of 'jam-mgon kon-sprul's great work on the unity of the gter ma traditions of tibet, with supplemental texts from the dpal-spuns redaction and other manuscript;The first of the five great treasuries (dzod) of the author. The enlarged 111 volume anthology of textual revelations (terma) of the visionary teachers of the past arranged for convenient initiations and instructions by Jamgon Kongtrul the Great (1813-1899). This edition is based on the Tsurpu edition as supplemented with blockprints from Palpung and other great monasteries of Kham at the order of H.H. Dilgo Kyentse Rinpoche. (111 vol)

Rigdzin Tsewang Norbu (1698-1755) was a lama of the Katog tradition and occupied an important role in 18th century political life. His most important accomplishments were peace mediations in Ladakh for the Tibetan government. He was an antiquarian and is known for his interests in stone inscriptions (doring), which he carefully copied. This manuscript set in only four volumes is complemented by the manuscript set in six volumes (W29688). (4 vol)


Six volume manuscript set of the collected works of Tsewang Norbu, Katok Rigdzin (1698-1755). This set contains several major works not included in the 4 volume edition, such as his study of Chinese Buddhism, inventory of Jonang Tagten Ganden Puntsog Ling Monastery, history of the Kagye teachings, and account of his negotion of a peace settlement in a war between Ladakh and Mube. The set also contains many works on astrology and the Kalachakra that are unique to this version of his collected works. (6 vol)


Chime Gonpo (b. 1755) of Kyidrong, western Tibet, followed the syncretic Nyingma-Kagyu tradition known as the Madun or Dochen Kagyu. This collection of his writings includes his autobiography, and its biographical supplement written by Dragkar Taso Trulku Chokyi Wangchug. (1 vol)


Getse Pandita Gyurme Tsewang Chogdrup (1761-1829) of Katok Monastery was a seminal figure in the revival of Nyingma scholasticism in the 19th century. His collected works contain several treatises on exoteric Buddhist tenets and the Magical Net (Gyutrul) cycle of Mahayoga. Also of interest is his autobiography. (10 vol)

     Khenpo Ngagchung or Ngagwang Palzang (1879-1941) was a great Dzogchen teacher and scholar. He came from the Nyoshul lineage and is famed for his exposition of the teachings of Jigme Lingpa and Dza Paltrul. He was also the head teacher of the seminary at Katog Monastery for 13 years. The Great Revelations of Concealed Teachings

     A manuscript collection of the teachings of the Eight Pronouncements (Kagye) recovered from their place of concealment by the famed Terton Ngadag Nyangrel Ozer (1136-1205). This cycle of rediscovered teachings is one of the most important of the Nyingma tradition. This manuscript represents the redaction of Gongra Lochen Zhenpen Dorje (1594-1654) preserved at Tsamdrag Monastery in Bhutan. Scanned with the generous support of Master Tam Shek-Wing of the Vajrayana Buddhist Association. There exists a blockprint redaction, probably carved at Gaje Monastery in Kham, an affiliate of Kathog Monastery. (13 vol)

     Treasure revelations of the Eight Pronouncements (Kagye) discovered by Guru Chowang (1212-1270). He was the reincarnate successor of Nyangrel Nyima Ozer, the discoverer of the first major cycle of Eight Pronouncement's treasures, the Kagye Desheg Dupa; this manuscript is incomplete and is from Tsamdrag Gonpa in Bhutan. There probably existed a block print edition in six volumes for Gaje Gonpa, an affiliate of Kathog in Kham. A print of this set has not yet been found. (4 vol)
